Finally, the end of the darkest and most miserable month of the year is upon us. To celebrate, we have an array of freebies to let you treat yourself on the cheap. Whether you fancy settling down with a free paper, pampering yourself for nothing, or tucking into a free pizza, there's something for everyone.
And there are a couple of great deals to help you get out and about in the cold too.
One eagle-eyed user of Hotukdeals.com
has spotted a deal at Waitrose
for My Waitrose cardholders. For the last six months, if you shopped in store you could claim your free coffee, and if you spent £5 you could get a free newspaper too. Now they have rolled the newspaper deal out online - if you spend £50 on an online shop. The card also entitles you to 10% off a number of products
Free hand cream
L'Occitaine is giving away three mini hand creams in a knitted pouch through a Facebook giveaway. You'll need to like it on Facebook
and within a couple of hours you'll have a voucher emailed to you - which you'll need to take into a store (a stand-alone one not one in a department store). There's a total of 30ml of cream here, which would cost you £8 in the stores, so it's a decent freebie.
O2 customers can get a free can of de-icer from Halfords this week through the Priority Moments app. If you're on a contract this will come as scant consolation for the fact that the company has just hiked its charges. However, if you have a sim and only use it for the app, it's another useful deal as the big freeze hits.
Two main courses for the price of onePrezzo
is offering 2 for 1 on its classic and light pizza and pasta - saving you up to £11.95. The downside is that the deal isn't valid on Saturdays and expires on Monday, but it still leaves you the chance to squeeze in a meal out this weekend. One code will be valid for the whole table, so you can get your friends out to celebrate making it through the most miserable month of the year.
Get £10 off a family and friends railcard
If you have children and ever travel by train, this is a brilliant deal. For £20 you can get a railcard for your family for the year. Just go to the site
and enter the code SAVING10 before 24 February. Once you have the card, any time you travel with children the kids get 60% off their fare and you get 30% off. There are some restrictions about when you can travel in some parts of the country, but on one journey from Cornwall to London a family of four can save more than £100 - so it doesn't take long to pay back.
