money background

One lucky Massachusetts man was shocked to find out he won $50,000 on a scratch-off lottery card. But he got an even bigger surprise when he went to cash in his lottery earnings and discovered he actually won $50,000 a year for life!

According to a press release, Jeremy Lockett and his family danced around the lottery office on hearing the good news.

Lockett bought the winning $20 "Lifetime Spectacular" ticket in a Stop N Gas in Dorchester.

He chose to take a lump sum cash payout of $650,000, before taxes. This is based on the prize's minimum 20-year guaranteed payout.

Lockett plans to pay off some debts and make some investments with his winnings.
