Sometimes it pays to clean up, as one lucky Long Island man discovered when he came across a winning lottery scratch card worth $1 million while cleaning up leaves and debris left behind by Hurricane Sandy.

Marvin Rosales-Martinez found the ticket last year but could not prove to officials that he was the rightful owner of the ticket so by New York Lottery rules he had to wait one year before he could claim his prize. Luckily for Martinez, no-one came forward to claim the ticket.
