Payday firms defend lending checks

Payday lenders insisted their affordability checks are similar to those used by credit card companies as they were grilled by MPs on their boasts of being able to make cash available to borrowers within minutes.

Representatives from Wonga, QuickQuid and Mr Lender as well as trade bodies were questioned about their business practices when they appeared before the Commons Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee.
