Centrica boss to turn down bonus

The head of British Gas owner Centrica has decided not to take his bonus this year, which could be worth around £1.7 million, amid continuing anger about soaring household bills, he has revealed.

Chief executive Sam Laidlaw took the decision some weeks ago, but only disclosed the news when questioned at the annual conference of the CBI business group in London.
