Britney Spears has done some sensational things in her time, but on her latest visit to London she really pushed the boundaries - by popping into Poundland.
It's certainly an unusual choice for an A-Lister. But what was she snapping up, and which other celebrities have a secret passion for bargain shopping?
On Alan Carr's chat show, she told him that she'd been in there buying novelty matches. They are extra-short, which she said meant that if you light them there's a good chance they'll burn your fingers. However, she decided it was worth the pain because they were 'cute'.
On the show she also revealed that she's a regular at discount stores, and at home is prone to popping on some dark glasses and browsing the aisles of the 99 cent stores.
Why?She doesn't need to save the cash. She was named by Forbes Magazine as the 20th highest-paid celebrity in the world - thanks in part to a highly successful perfume business. Her recently-announced Las Vegas residency isn't likely to do her much financial harm either.
However, there's something attractive about a bargain even when you can afford the best.
Celebrity bargainsAdmittedly there aren't a huge number of celebrities who have been snapped in Poundland - although Susan Boyle was spotted there once.
However, that doesn't mean to say that they're too good for the store. More than 20% of Poundland customers are now middle class or wealthier. And Poundland is going from strength to strength on the back of it. It has 458 stores in the UK and said earlier this month that it was aiming to run 1,000 UK stores by 2020.
And there's no shortage of celebrities with a passion for a bargain. The Duchess of Cambridge makes no secret of her regular trips to Bicester Village - a designer outlet village - where she snaps up dresses for less than half price. She caused a run on an ASOS maternity dress in June, after she wore the £17.50 frock to the Harry Potter Studios.
Kate Moss is another fashionista with a passion for a bargain. She caused a run on Primark capes in 2011 when she was photographed wearing one to the Isle of Wight Festival.
And Holly Willoughby's dress from bargain store Peacocks caused a stampede at the store in 2010 after she wore it on 'This Morning'.
It seems, therefore, that it's not just Britney Spears. There's a good chance that there are plenty of celebrities donning the big glasses and popping in for cut price makeup, cheap party supplies, or stationery. It's just that they're not all so keen to let us know about it.
