London Mayor Boris Johnson has called for a tax break on commuters' season tickets to soften the blow for passengers facing fare rises.

Mr Johnson is in talks with Chancellor George Osborne over allowing passes to be paid for from pre-tax income, potentially saving individuals hundreds of pounds a year.
