Chingford is apparently the luckiest pace in the UK. The Essex town, known as the childhood home of David Beckham and the resting place of the Kray twins, has been singled out by Ladbrokes as home to its luckiest punters.
So why has it awarded this honour to Chingford, and where else is in contention for the title?
Top 20Ladbrokes was researching its football accumulator bets from last season, to find the places where punters took home the most cash. Chingford topped the list, where betters won over half a million pounds, and an average of £5,000 each - and wags at the company immediately renamed it ker-Chingford.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "There must be something in the water in Chingford. Football fans there clearly have the magic touch when it comes to landing huge wins."
The top 20 was named as:
- Chingford £529,363.50
- Glasgow £283,475.35
- Liverpool £232,643.90
- Leicester £216,279.78
- Sheffield £210,473.56
- Wakefield £206,110.00
- Tylorstown, Rhonda £200,450.00
- Rawyards, Airdrie £200,020.00
- London West End £199,468.00
- City of London £174,564.38
- Cherry Hinton, Cambridge £120,958.00
- Gilmerton, Edinburgh £108,822.11
- Yardley , Birmingham £107,678.09
- Alvaston, Derby £106,028.00

- Kings Lynn £99,387.12
- Shenley Church End, Milton Keynes £99,021.10
- Camden, London £98,784.19
On this list, special mention has to go to tiny Tylorstown in Wales (population 4,100) ranked 6th on the list with an incredible total payout of £200,450, with more money won from large-payout football bets there than in the West End of London.
Other lucky townsChingford may well be enjoying its new-found-fame, but it shouldn't get too carried away, because it has competition for the title of luckiest place in the UK.
According to the National Lottery, Birmingham is the luckiest place in the country to buy a lottery ticket. Since the lottery was launched, 94 millionaires have been created there. A spokesman said: "Congratulations to the people of Birmingham – they have been living through almost two stunning decades of luck and can celebrate being number one in the UK."
Alternatively you could measure it by wealth - in which case Windsor is the luckiest town in the UK - with the most dollar millionaires in the UK (followed by Weybridge, Sevenoaks, Beaconsfield and Henley on Thames)."
