Tesco to launch Clubcard Boost scheme

Tesco has announced that it's merging its Clubcard Exchange and Rewards programmes into a new scheme called Clubcard Boost.

From Monday (29th July), Clubcard members can choose to use their vouchers to get double value in certain departments in Tesco stores or Tesco online.

Or they can continue to get up to four times the value of their vouchers by spending them with Clubcard's existing Rewards partners. These include airlines, hotels, holiday companies, theme parks, and restaurants.

Using Clubcard Boost at Tesco
Clubcard members now have until 31st December to double their vouchers and spend them in-store or online. The departments included in this promotion are:
  • Clothing;
  • Baby & Toddler (including nappies and wipes);
  • Cosmetics and Fragrance;
  • Cook, Dine and Home;
  • Opticians.
Tesco is also promising other special offers throughout the summer and at other times of the year, including Christmas.

If you're shopping online, you'll be offered the chance to turn your Clubcard vouchers into Boost tokens, thereby doubling their value.

Using Clubcard Boost with other partners
Tesco says there are over 800 Boost partners including the likes of Virgin Atlantic, Cineworld, the RAC, Thorntons, Hilton, and P&O.

This part of Boost will work in pretty much the same way as the current Rewards scheme, with Clubcard members able to swap vouchers for up to four times their value in Boost tokens.

As a special offer at launch, you can swap £2.50 of Clubcard vouchers for a free Cineworld or Odeon cinema ticket. This offer runs until 29th August.

Ways to earn more Clubcard points
You can earn one Clubcard point per £1 spent on your shopping in Tesco stores, online at Tesco.com and on purchases made at Tesco Direct. And you can also earn one point for every £2 spent on Tesco fuel.

But if you're keen to earn even more, there are plenty of opportunities.

For example, you can earn three points for every £1 spent on Tesco Mobile pay monthly bills, Tesco home phone, Tesco Broadband, and Tesco mobile top-ups.

You can also benefit if you're an E.On customer too. There are 4,000 points (worth £40) up for grabs depending on how you pay your bill, how long you have been a customer and which of the new E.On tariffs you switch to. You can also earn 1,000 points if you manage your account online and 1,000 points if you become a dual fuel customer.

You can also earn one point per £3 spent at Esso petrol stations, and one point per £1 spent at online film and TV streaming site Blinkbox, The Nutri Centre and daily deals site livingsocial. You can also convert cashback you earn at cashback website Top Cashback into points, with 1p of cashback equalling one point.

Tesco credit cards provide a further boost
If you really want to earn points fast, you could take out a Tesco credit card. All Tesco's credit cards double as a Clubcard so you can earn five points per £4 spent in Tesco and Tesco petrol stations plus one point for every £4 spent elsewhere.

And, right now, Tesco is offering some market-leading credit card offers.

You can take advantage of an interest-free period of 18 months with the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card for Purchases.

Or you might prefer the 27-month interest-free offer on balance transfers (with a balance transfer fee of 3.15%) on the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card for Balance Transfers, which also has a 0% period on purchases for three months. Meanwhile, the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card with Low Balance Transfer Fee offers 0% on balance transfers and purchases for a year, and has the lowest balance transfer fee around, at just 0.9%.

Make sure you pay off your balance in full by the end of any interest-free period or you'll be charged interest. And you must make the minimum payment each month in order to keep hold of your 0% deal.
