Freebie Friday: this week's discounts, deals and freebies

Freebie Friday

There are freebies galore this week: from beer to moisturiser, and baby essentials to eye tests. There's also a great way to turn a 25% off pizza deal into one for 40% off.

There's nothing hotter this weekend - except perhaps the weather.

Free eye test

If you use a computer at work, you're entitled to a free eye test, so make sure you speak to your boss or your HR department. If you're over 60, on one of a number of benefits, live in Scotland, or fall into a number of different health categories, you can get a free test on the NHS. If not, you can get a free test at Specsavers. This was spotted by the users of, who highlight that you just need to print off this voucher, and use it in your local Specsavers on or before 28 September.

Baby freebies

New mums can get £5 off the Little Ones range at Sainsbury's (are you listening Duchess?). If you have a Nectar card and a child under the age of four, you can sign up to the supermarket's baby and toddler club here. You'll get lots of vouchers over the following months, but within the first two or three weeks you'll be able to collect one for £5 off the Little Ones range.

To get your voucher you just need to buy anything at all at Sainsbury's and have your Nectar card swiped. At that point your voucher will be printed off at the till. And because there is no minimum spend, you can immediately use this to bag yourself a freebie.

Free electric toothbrush

Colgate is offering you the chance to get a free ProClinical A1500 electric toothbrush in return for swapping any old rechargeable toothbrush. It's worth £169.99, so its a great deal. The company was initially planning to do the exchange at London stations, but after being overwhelmed with demand it has decided to do it online.

You just sign up here before 20 July, and the company will pick 7,000 people at random. If you are chosen you'll get an email by the 24th. You then send your toothbrush in by Freepost and they'll send the new one out. It's worth bearing in mind that it needs to be a rechargeable electric toothbrush - battery-operated ones don't count.

Free beer or cocktail

It's a welcome offer for a hot Friday evening: Pitcher and Piano is giving away a free whisky sour or free pint of Grolsch to everyone who signs up for its newsletters. The offer is open for the whole of July: you just put your details in and get your unique code. Then you either print it off or show it on your phone to get your freebie. It's worth signing up to these newsletters because they offer a freebie every month.

Free moisturiser

While the world goes mad for an expensive YSL cream, you can get your hands on a free moisturiser from L'Occitane. There are 15ml tubes on the front of this month's Harper's Bazaar. And although you'll need to fork out £4.20 for the magazine, the cream is worth £15 - so it's still a real bargain.

Cheap pizza

All the pizza firms have a range of deals, but one of the most generous at the moment is from Papa Johns. They are advertising a 25% off orders over £25 deal. However, if you click on the link on the My Voucher Codes page, and you'll get a code which gives you 40% off all orders over £25. The deal is open until 14 July - and ice cream and drinks don't count towards the minimum spend.
