The Co-operative Group will complete the overhaul of its UK-wide logistics network with the official opening of a new distribution centre on Monday.
The site in Castlewood, north Derbyshire, will create around 300 jobs and employ 1,060 people when it is fully operational later in the year, serving hundreds of Co-op food stores.
Steve Murrells, chief executive of The Co-operative Food, said: "The opening of Castlewood marks a major milestone for The Co-operative and the completion of a radical revamp of our entire logistics network.
"We've invested £22 million into Castlewood to create an efficient facility which will not only create 300 new jobs and boost the local economy, but it also represents The Co-operative Food's ambition for the future."
The Co-op received more than 2,200 applications for the 300 warehouse and transport jobs created.
