Private sector pensions vanish

There has been a collapse in the number of private businesses that offer a pension to staff, according to DWP figures. Astonishingly only a quarter of people who work in the private sector are a member of their work pension scheme - down from around a third five years ago. Meanwhile, only 24% employers actually have a scheme - down from 41% in 2007.

So what's going on, and what can be done?
