It may be handy to be able to take your phone or computer everywhere you need it. And you may appreciate being able to surf on the beach or Google from the changing cubicle, but it also means we're able to drop, step on, and otherwise destroy our gadgets in a variety of different settings.
And now research has revealed the top ten places where our gadgets are most at risk. So does your town make the list?
The research, by www.gadget-cover.com, found that the most lost, damaged, mislaid or stolen items are iPhones.
Postcode dropperyRedcar in Cleveland is the clumsiest area in England, with more mobile phones, laptops and other electrical gadgets dropped, lost or mislaid there than anywhere else in the country. Whether we're burying our iPhones in the sand at Coatham Sands, or tipping them overboard at the Zetland Lifeboat Museum it seems we just cannot hang onto our gadgets.
Next on the list is Warrington and Runcorn in Cheshire, where presumably there's a big risk of staggering off the rides at Gulliver's World Resort and stepping on an iPad.
Fourth is Barnsley, where there's always the perils of the maize maize to contend with.
And fifth is Leeds, where the lakes at Roundhay Park are positively begging for an iPhone droppage.
The ten areas where fewest claims for loss or damage occur are North Yorkshire, Devon, Dorset, Shropshire, Wiltshire, Cumbria, Lincolnshire, Herefordshire, Somerset and Cornwall.
But what do you think? Do you live in these areas, and why are they the clumsiest in the UK? Let us know in the comments.
