Low-taxed cider has become the equal of lager, with steep sales growth in the past five years mirroring Lager's sales decline. The West County cider-guzzling band The Wurzels will be happy.

Beer has seen the most dramatic sales decline, losing £2.2bn in revenue between 2006 and 2011 mainly due to the decline of the UK pub sector.
