Marks & Spencer yesterday launched their popular outlet store online.

The chain launched outlet stores at Ashford, Cheshire Oaks and Livingston back in 2000 and now has 50 across the country. It is offering heavily discounted items from past seasons online for the first time.
The 40 per cent reductions will be offered to online shoppers for the first time, as the company looks to expand its online sales and attract shoppers who might otherwise opt for cheaper high street rivals.

The outlet will permanently offer a selection of over 1,300 quality M&S clothing products across womenswear, lingerie, menswear and kidswear – with up to 40 per cent off the regular high street and online prices all year round.

Richard Fox, Head of M&S Outlet, said: "The internet is often the first port of call for shoppers in search of a bargain, as it offers a quick and convenient way to compare the deals available.

"We've responded to our customers' increased demand for online access to great value by extending our popular outlet offer on our website – making it even easier for customers to treat themselves to the best of M&S at even better prices."

Unlike the outlet stores on the high street, the M&S online outlet will feature regularly refreshed ranges from more recent M&S collections.

Current product highlights include black Autograph heeled peep-toe shoes reduced from £55 to £33, and a men's Collezione cotton jumper with cashmere reduced from £29.50 to £17.50.

While the online outlet selection is reasonably limited compared to the main online store, those looking for a real bargain on more classic pieces will undoubtedly have success.

The delivery and returns on the new online outlet are provided by Amazon, so customers can use their Amazon account to place orders, and it is Amazon's delivery and returns policy which applies. Orders cannot be returned in store.

To celebrate the launch of M&S Outlet online, M&S is offering free standard UK delivery to customers spending £30 or more until Sunday 4th March 2012, and is thought to be offering more incentives to customers over the next two weeks.
