HMRC could pay you £100,000

It sounds like a dodgy scam, but if new proposals get the go-ahead, there's an outside chance that the taxman could be paying you £100,000. According to the Daily Telegraph, HMRC is considering running a prize draw. In order to enter it, you would need to complete your self-assessment tax return early, and pay it early too. The winner would then be the proud owner of £100k.

So would it be worth paying early? And should the government spend its money on this sort of gimmick?
