We've all been there. You're minding your own business and then BOOM — something really embarrassing happens. Just thinking about it is making us blush. Unfortunately for one Golden Retriever, his mama was there during one of his more awkward moments. And she could totally tell he was mortified.

Sometimes being a mom is pretending that you don't see your kid doing something sort of weird.  And that goes double when your kid is a dog.

Dogs are always getting into all sorts of messes. And that includes the kinds that they themselves have no clue how to get out of.

In the video shared by Alex, it shows the dog mom walking over to her Golden Retriever who was stuck on his back. Just like a turtle. "Are you stuck?" his mom asked from behind the camera. And the look on the Golden's face seems like he really wished she hadn't caught him.

"I think he's embarrassed," she wrote in the onscreen caption.

Sorry Charles, but mom shared the video with the internet, who also thought the whole thing was sort of adorable. "You’re telling me these used to survive in the wild," joked one person. "The way his tail wags when he spots you watching him," another person added. "HIS FACE, he’s looking at you like 'are you gonna help me so I can continue my flips or not?'" a third commenter teased. "Don't look at me this way mother," someone else chimed in.

Can Dogs Really Get Embarrassed?

Even though it might really seem like your dog is mortified, remember that dogs have a more limited range of emotions than humans do. Embarrassment is normal for us, but dogs don't necessarily feel shame. Research has shown that dogs do have very basic emotions like anger, joy, sadness, surprise, disgust, and fear.

Humans tend to interpret certain gestures as embarrassment, like tail tucking, hiding, ear dropping, avoidance, submissive behaviors, rolling around, or anxious behaviors. But no matter how much it might really seem like your dog is feeling humiliation that's probably not the case.

It's more likely that your dog is reacting to your emotions. So if you're feeling a little embarrassed by what's happening, they might be copying you.
