Do you know your neighbors? A video online might just convince you to introduce yourself. Rafael Rios was away when he got a call from his neighbor that his house was on fire. And then the man did him one better — he volunteered to enter Rios' house so that he could save his four precious pups.

The incredible act was caught on Rios' Ring camera and shows the man trying to leap into action.

"I'm gonna get all the dogs out of there," the man vowed in the footage. With no time to waste, the man called up Rios on his phone and told him the news.

"Hey Rafeal what's the combination to your house? Your house is on fire!" he said. "I'm not lying dude! Seriously, what's the code to get in the door!"

Thankfully, it seems like the neighbor managed to get all four dogs out of the house, leading Rios to praise him online. "He didn't know how bad the fire was, all he knew was that he needed to get our dogs out. I will be buying him beer for the rest of my life!" Rios exclaimed in the caption.

The comments section was so thankful to his neighbor's heroic actions. "BBQ and beer for the rest of his life. You have an awesome neighbor," wrote one person. "If he moves somewhere else you move next door to him, he’s an awesome neighbor," another person agreed. "This is why I get along with my neighbors, they are the first people to help out," a third commenter chimed in.

How to Protect Your Pets During Fires

What happened to Rios and his pets is scary, but there are ways to be proactive in case the worst happens in your home. First things first, you must include your pets in your emergency and disaster plan. Similarly, when you practice your plan, make sure you work out who will collect your pets, who will grab their supplies, and who will watch them as you make your way to your emergency meeting point.

You'll also want to keep your dog's collars and leashes by the door in case you have to leave before getting your pet outside. That way firefighters will be able to quickly contain them and get them outside to safety as quickly as possible. You might also want to put a pet alert sign in your window. These signs will tell any fire personnel the number of pets inside your home and should be placed somewhere easily visible.

When the worst happens, things can move really fast. So take the time now to create a solid plan for you and your animal. You'll thank yourself later for thinking ahead.
