Best beaches in Italy (according to TripAdvisor reviewers)
  • The "Spiaggia dei Conigli" or Rabbit Beach isn't just TripAdvisor's best beach in Italy - it was voted one of the best beaches in the world, and for good reason. Lampedusa is an island located in the Pelagie group of Islands in Sicily in Italy.
  • Favignana, an island close to Sicily,  boasts has several small beaches, many of which are incredibly popular despite being difficult to access. One of the most sought-after bathing spots is Cala Rossa, a pretty bay with turquoise sea. Visitors turn up on bikes or in boats to sun themselves on rocks or wade out from tiny sandy beach. It's quite a scramble to get down the rocks onto the beach, but determined holiday-makers don't let this deter them.

  • La Pelosa is a beautiful beach in the Stintino area, in the northwest cape of Sardinia with views towards Asinara Island. The water is famous for being warm and clear. It's advisable to rent a chair and beach umbrella, although they're very expensive, because the beach is always very crowded.
  • Surrounded by soaring limestone rocks, Cala Mariolu on the eastern coast of the beautiful island of Sardinia  is decorated with little pebbles made round and smooth by the lapping sea. The beach is one of the best snorkelling and diving beaches in Sardinia.  
  • The Daily Telegraph recently branded Tropea as "Calabria’s answer to Positano or Taormina." This popular area boasts an attractive old town, full of good trattorias and shops, while a rocky outcrop gives way to gently shelving sandy beach, which is particularly popular with families. 
  • Sestri Levante is also known as the 'Bay of Silence' or Baia del Silenzio. One TripAdvisor reviewer describes it thus: "A little hidden gem in Italian Riviera. Beautiful and peaceful. Wonderful for couples and families. Highly Recommended Sssshhh! don't tell anyone."
  • This attractive, selculded beach rarely gets crowded - even in summer.
  • Porto Giunco sits on the the beautiful South Sardinian sea, is backed by the the Notteri Lagoon. The area is known for its outstanding beauty.
  • This is the most popular beaches of San Teodoro. Sitting on the northern outskirts of the town, the beach stretches out in an arched shape for around 5 kilometres, giving plenty of room even in peak season.
  • This rather small beach is surrounded by an abundance of lush Mediterranean greenery, olive and pine trees. The beach is divided into two parts by enormous granite rocks. Capriccioli beach also offers great views of the island of Mortorio, which can only be reached by small boats.
