Europe's Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations
  • The Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana) is known to be one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the world, which is why thousands of couples visit every year. Although Positano and Amalfi are the main allure for tourists, couples seeking extra seclusion could explore Salerno, a beautiful old town. An afternoon walk in the sunshine through Salerno's winding medieval streets, finished off with a glass of Limoncello (Italy's famous lemon liqueur) in a quaint cafe is enough to make anyone fall in love. Tip: The best time to visit the Amalfi Coast is in spring or early autumn, (summer can be very crowded).

  • Spellbinding sunsets await you on the isle of Santorini, where you can wine and dine yourselves in a cliffside restaurant, allowing the spectacular views to enchant your senses. Regarded by many as one of the most beautiful locations on earth to witness the sun setting over the sea, visitors flock to take advantage of the sublime views from the cliff towns all year round. From the quintessentially Greek whitewashed churches with bright blue-domes, to quaint little towns like Oia, Santorini is perhaps the most popular island in Greece for romance, considered by newlyweds as a photo-perfect backdrop to the dream honeymoon. Tip: Best time to visit is October when its more peaceful and the water is warm.

  • If you want  to retreat to a peace haven together, what better way to unwind and get away from it all than to spend your honeymoon in a luxury spa, tucked away within a vineyard. Take for example Les Sources de Caudalie, which is just South of Bordeaux.  Sipping on champagne by the swimming pool, the sun beaming down, surrounded by vineyards and fields of sunflowers and lavender, you will feel completely at one with nature (and each other). Explore the quaint medieval towns that criss-cross the region, and walk the cobblestone roads hand in hand, stumbling across traditional eateries and bistros on the way. Tip: Why not go really avant garde and book yourselves into the extraordinary suite at Les Soures de Caudalie designed by the young French designer Maxime Simoëns?

A swim in the clear and warm water of Lake Garda is a must, especially in the summer. Surrounded by cypresses, vines, orange trees and citrus groves, Lake Garda is the essence of Italian romance.
