  • Serenity, an adults-only area on Carnival Sunshine, provides a tranquil place to escape, with its cascading waterfall, pool and relaxing whirlpool. Located in the secluded midship section, the private area is open to over-21s only and offers a wonderful retreat to enjoy peace and quiet on the ship.

  • Sparkling and inviting, the signature Seahorse Pool on Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony is ideal for swimming laps, enjoying a game of water volleyball or simply lounging poolside. The teak deck surrounding the Seahorse Pool features circular pod beds, plush sofas and lounge chairs in a kaleidoscope of lime green, azure and mango.

  • Royal Caribbean's world-first AquaTheater provides a spectacular theatrical show for cruisers. The AquaTheater has the deepest saltwater pool at sea, with hundreds of fountains that shoot water 20 metres into the air. The diving tower has two diving boards and two 10-metre high dive platforms. Shows at the theatre combine synchronised swimming, high diving acrobatics, trampolining and lightshows, with two giant screens that sit either side of the pool.

  • MSC Cruises' Infinity Pool is located on board MSC Divina at the back of the ship, providing unimpeded views of the sea. When the ship was launched in 2012, the infinity pool was the first of its kind at sea. It is located beside the Garden Bar area and is a popular place to enjoy the sail away party as the ship pulls out of port and starts its cruise.

  • Part of the Greenhouse Spa & Salon, one of the finest spas at sea, the hydropool is filled with calming ocean water heated to body temperature, allowing you to stay immersed and enjoy the benefits of the jets longer than a traditional hot tub. The spa also features a heated ceramic lounge with tiled loungers reminiscent of an opulent Turkish bath and private treatment rooms for massages.

  • If you're looking for an exclusive cruise ship swimming pool, you'll love the private pool in the MSC Yacht Club. MSC Yacht Club is MSC Cruises' luxurious ship-within-a-ship concept that is only available on four of its 12 ships. The Yacht Club is a private area with only 71 cabins, private bar, private restaurant, private lounge and private swimming pool. Guests staying in the Yacht Club also have access to their own private butler and private concierge.

  • Viking Star features one of the only infinity pools at sea, allowing you to swim surrounded by your destination in a glass-backed pool cantilevered off the stern. In the evening, the space transforms into the Aquavit Terrace, where you can dine to music playing and watch the world unfold.

  • Whether you've never surfed in your life or are a surf legend, you’ll love Royal Caribbean's surfing pool. With 60,000 gallons of water rushing by every minute, FlowRider is an amazing feat of engineering where you can you can let rip by yourself or try a surfing lesson. The surf simulator lets you ride or boogie board the waves and your performance is broadcast on the flat-screen TVs in the adjacent Wipe Out! bar.

  • Adjacent to spa-inspired setting The Sanctuary, the Retreat Pool provides an exclusive area for adults to relax and rejuvenate. The Retreat Pool on Regal Princess offers more space and seating than the adult pools on other Princess vessels, plus Retreat Cabanas that can be reserved for an enhanced experience. The cabanas allow you to enjoy private space poolside, or even add the indulgence of one of the ship’s special picnic baskets. It is open to all adults and at night, the area turns into the Chill Lounge, offering guests a relaxed outdoor space to enjoy the night with drinks and music.
  • The luxury cruise line’s adults-only Solarium on its state of the art Solstice Class ships offers a tranquil haven for passengers keen to relax and unwind on their cruise getaway. The serene Solarium environment features a lap pool, whirlpools, glass walls and roof with solar panels, as well as a water feature on the wall that lights up at night.

  • The expansive deck on Seabourn's cruise ships features comfortable sun lounges and cabanas surrounding the beautiful Pool Patio with its two large whirlpools either side. A stage features live music for dancing by night and on some nights movies are played under the night sky, while a nightcap at the Sky Bar overlooking the pool makes for a perfect way to socialise at sea.
