Best beaches in Croatia
  • The pebbly peninsula of Zlatni Rat can be found on the Croatian island of Brač. The spit extends over 2,000 feet into the Adriatic and the island is made up of white shingle beaches and a Mediterranean pine grove.
  • Medulin was once a small fishing village but it has now grown to become a popular tourist destination and one of the major visitor centres of the Istrian area.          
  • Formerly a popular family resort, Novalja has now become known for its lively nightlife. However the beaches in the area, including Zrće and Caska, remain as pristine as ever with stunning clear blue waters. 
  • Bacvice beach is one of the most popular swimming sites in Split and also one of the few sandy beaches along the coastline. Bacvice is also a popular site for Picigin, a local game that is similar to volleyball but without the net and with added acrobatic jumps and leaps. 

  • Stara Baska beach is on the island of Krk which is home to a host of stunning beaches. Cars must be left inland as the remote Stara Baska beach is only accessible by a path that winds through the hillside.
  • Zaton Bay boasts a number of picturesque beaches along its 2km of coastline. Rafting, kayaking and hiking are also all popular activities in the area.
  • Biograd na Moru is a beautiful beach town with a stunning coastline and historic harbour. The area is popular with sailors from all over the world. 
  • Banje is the most famous of Dubrovnik's beaches. It is a combination of sand and pebbles and offers not only a host of beach bars for visitors to enjoy but pedal boats to rent so you can enjoy the rest of the Croatian coastline while you're there. 
  • Lovrecina Bay is found on the northern part of the island of Brac. The area is know for its wide sandy beach and sites of important archaelogical interest, including the remains of a 5th century basilica. 
  • Proizd is a tiny island found near Korcula in the south of Croatia. The island has perfect waters for swimming, snorkelling and many other aquatic activities. 

  • Slanica Bay on Murter Island is heralded as one of the sandier beaches along the coastline and it is also said to be one of the most beautiful bays on the small island. 
  • The Brijuni Islands are a collection of 14 small islandswhich form part part of a National Park . They've become a favourite with visitors thanks to their stunning beaches. 
  • St Andrea Beach is a stunning, rocky bay which stretches along the Istrian peninsula. The area is a designated Blue Flag Beach and is a firm favourite with tourists and locals alike. 
  • Sveta Nedjelja is found at the base of a steep and sunny slope on the island of Hvar. The area boasts crystal blue waters and stunning pebble beaches as well as a strong history of olive groves and vineyards. 
  • The coastal town here boasts a beautiful and colourful stone houses as well as historic sites. Tisno is connected to the mainland via a bridge and the beaches are predominantly pebbly with calm, clear blue waters and minimal tourists.
