Baby is born clutching his mother's contraceptive coil

This baby arrived into the world clutching a birth control device that had been inserted into his mother.

The 34-year-old woman, who has two previous children, gave birth to the 7lb boy in northern Hai Phong City, Vietnam.

The woman had the contraceptive coil planted into her uterus at a local hospital nearly three years ago - but later discovered she was pregnant.

Both mother and baby are said to be doing well.

A member of staff at Hai Phong International Hospital shared the image of the baby on Facebook.
