A man who entered a silent Buddhist retreat in Vermont in mid-March says he emerged seventy-five days later to find a world he didn't quite understand.

Daniel Thorson told the New York Times that one of the first things he did after leaving the retreat was to log into Twitter and ask: 'Did I miss anything'.

He quickly learned about the current coronavirus pandemic; including and how simple human interaction had changed after not observing social distancing at the local grocery store.

He also commented, that while he was on retreat, "there was a collective dramatic emotional experience that I was not part of". To what degree do I have to piece it back together?
