Love on the border: The elderly couple who meet for tea

An elderly couple are meeting every day on either side of the German and Danish border, which has been shut in order to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

Inga Rasmussen, 85, from Denmark, met Karsten Tuechsen Hansen, 89, from Germany, two years ago.

Both widowed, they quickly fell in love.

But as Germany and Denmark introduced border controls to slow the spread of coronavirus, they now have to meet and sit on either side of the barricade for biscuits and schnapps diluted with hot water.
