Why you don't want to microwave water for your tea

If what you're after is a good cup of tea, it's probably best to heal the water in the kettle rather than in the microwave.

According to Smithsonian magazine, getting the best flavour out of tea requires paying special attention to the water temperature.

While kettles are designed to reach an ideal 212 degrees Fahrenheit, microwaves "shoot tiny waves into the liquid at random locations, causing the water molecules of those points to vibrate rapidly".

As a result, there could be a variety of water temperatures in a single cup - which is not ideal for tea-brewing.
