This is the hilarious moment a firework display backfires and a man is hit by a rocket

Amateur footage has captured the moment a family fireworks display in Hertfordshire backfires, leaving a man lucky to escape with no injuries.

After carefully preparing his box of fireworks, Neil Sjollema can be seen backing away as the fun begins, only for a rocket to suddenly strike him in the neck.

Luckily, he brushes off the incident and retreats into his house, along with his children.

Neil said: "It didn't hurt too much actually, as I think I was full of adrenaline and wanted to make sure the kids were safe."

"But it's left me with a tiny mark on my neck! A little souvenir, if you like!"

He added: "It won't stop me trying again next year!"
