A six-year-old girl was given just five days to bond with her newborn baby sister, before tragically succumbing to a rare health disorder.

Heartbroken mother Emily Nixon, 25, has now relived the most bittersweet 10 days of her life by creating a poignant picture album with her two beloved children.

Darcy Roger, six, packed a lifetime of love into just five days, when Beatrice, the baby sister she had longed for, was born two weeks premature - giving them less than a week to bond before the older girl died.

Darcy was born with a rare disorder called Vacterl Association, and endured 20 operations throughout her short life.

She was awaiting heart surgery when she contracted the infection that killed her on January 24.

Following her death, Emily and her partner Kristian were offered the chance to spend a few days with Darcy's body in a temperature-controlled bedroom so they could say goodbye properly.
