Woman shares list of 'toxic' rules her ex-boyfriend gave her - before he cheated

A woman has revealed the disturbing list of strict rules her ex-boyfriend gave her ahead of a night out with her friends - shortly before he cheated.

Zoe Scholefield tweeted a screenshot of her former partner's text which outlined 12 rules she had to obey.

She captioned the now-viral post, which has since garnered over 34,400 likes, "Funny how my ex sent me stuff like this then has the audacity to cheat on me."

The demanding list kick-starts with the first rule which reads, "Don't dance like a s**g like in Reflex" while the second states: "Don't get too drunk."

Her outfit also had to be approved of by her boyfriend in advance, as he required photographs of both the front and back of the look before she headed out.

But it doesn't stop there, as he also stated that if a boy approaches her during the evening then she should inform them that she already has a boyfriend.

Scholefield also had to make sure that she was "ready to explain stories" to her partner the following day.

As though that's not enough, she was also required to send a video of her bedroom before going to sleep to prove that nobody else was there.

'Control isn't affection or love'

Understandably, social media followers rushed to comment with many warning of the telltale signs of domestic abuse.

"Emotional and verbal abuse can have short-term and long-lasting effects that are just as serious as the effects of physical abuse," one warned. "Emotional and verbal abuse includes insults and attempts to isolate or control you."

Another added, "Don't know who needs to hear this but if your partner lists even one of those things then you should show them the door. Control isn't affection or love."

"So incredibly rude and disrespectful. Your insecurities are not our job to cater to. People who are this distrusting, are that way because their own bad habits, as you stated," a third commented. "Straight up unacceptable. And love how he wants you to call, but wants a heads up first..."

While some took to the tweet to praise Scholefield for finding the strength to leave the toxic relationship.

"Omg...Thank God he is your ex now. How dare he type all that down for a night out..." one wrote. "Yeah usually the ones that do that are the ones ALREADY cheating... what a muppet he is!!! He doesn't deserve anyone ever. You have dodged a massive bullet there!"

"This message is not okay in the slightest!" a second wrote. "Wow, you must be so free and happy you're single now, what a crazy guy!"
