Constantly hungry toddler placed on strict diet

A devoted mum has revealed how, at just two years old, her son is already on a strict low carb, high protein, no sugar diet because of a genetic condition that makes him constantly hungry.

The minute Kirsty Milbanhac, 38, cuddled newborn Reggie when he arrived into the world in July 2017, she noticed his lack of muscle tone and her mother's instinct told her something was wrong.

But it wasn't until February 2018 that the tot was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), a genetic condition causing a range of learning difficulties and behavioural problems, including an excessive appetite, which has seen him placed on an ultra-restrictive diet.

Will need to try to control their son's behaviour

PWS characteristics include: Over-eating to an excessive level, low IQ, learning difficulties, anger, tiredness, mobility issues, behavioural issues, scoliosis and breathing difficulties.

It also means Kirsty and Reggie's dad, Jimmy, of Raynes Park, south west London, will need to try to control this behaviour throughout their son's life.

The family is raising money for Reggie to have an intensive, three-week, bespoke course for children who suffer with his limitations - and on August 9 his uncle, Steve, will be taking part in a sponsored skydive.
