New guidelines no longer recommend taking a daily low dose of aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Roger Blumenthal, a cardiologist with Johns Hopkins Medicine in America, says clinicians should be selective in prescribing aspirin for people without known cardiovascular disease.

Instead, Dr. Blumenthal says aspirin should be prescribed to patients with a high risk of cardiovascular disease with a low risk of bleeding.
