The best oil to cook with is still canola

Canola oil has had something of a bad reputation lately, but the bad press shouldn't put you off giving it a try.

It's the most commonly used oil in the kitchen and is used for everything from roasting to frying. What sets this apart from other oils is its light taste and high smoking point which helps to avoid burning the food and doesn't leave a strong aftertaste.

However, what you may not realise is that it's packed with omega-3 oils that can have some benefits to your brain, heart, skin, hair and eyes. It can also help lower bad LDL cholesterol and is lower in fat than most oils.

Despite all the benefits of canola there are many rumours about the dangers which are based on misunderstandings about how the oil is produced.
