New research suggests that those who carry extra weight around the mid-section, might actually have shrinking brains.

According to SWNS the study, published in the journal Neurology, calculated both the BMI and hip-to-waist ratio of all 9,652 participants. Researchers then used MRIs to measure the volume of each person's brain. In the end they found that high BMI linked to smaller brain volume.
