Woman warns drivers over eating hot cross buns

Motorists may be left puzzled after a video went viral warning about the dangers of driving after eating hot cross buns.

Heather Jones, a Pilbara Heavy Haulage Girls Inc. lorry driver from Western Australia, issued the warning, by posting a demonstration of how one one bite from the bun could have a negative affect on a breathalyser test.

After blowing into the device, it recorded an increase in her alcohol levels, which had she eaten the whole bun, could have put her over the legal limit in the Australian state, according to news.com.au.

The video which has been viewed more than 3 million times after it was uploaded on Sunday didn't impress everyone.

Some on social media have claimed that different foods can return positive readings, with many saying that Jones should have waited up to 15 minutes before taking the test.

According to news.com.au, one breathalyser manufacturer states this warning on their website.

One of the possible reasons why the hot cross bun returned a positive result may be because of the yeast in the bread. Some social media users claimed that other foods like, pizza can also return a false positive reading.
