Sweet tooth for history? Auctioneers uncover century-old box of chocolates

When Eileen Margaret Elmes was given a box of Pascall's Little Red Riding Hood Chocolate Novelties as a Christmas present more than 100 years ago, she simply could not bring herself to eat them.

Elmes kept her nursery-rhyme themed box with her until she passed away at the age of 99 in 2007, and the box then made its way to Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers, where it was revealed to the public for the first time in nearly the same condition as a century ago.

Inside sit four chocolate figures on a bed of shredded paper, including Little Red Riding Hood, a baby in a cradle, a man in a blue sailor suit and a lady in a summer dress. Find out more on the story in the video above.
