Five of the best gift sets from under £30

Still got to get a Christmas present for that tricky friend or relative who either has everything already or says that they don't want anything? Well, you've come to the right place, because we've rounded up five of the best gift sets from £10 to £30, and you can even get them sent direct if time is running short.

Montezuma's Mini Me Organic Chocolate Bar Library, £10

Know somebody likes chocolate but not sure what flavour to go for? Why not buy them six different flavours in this attractive boxed gift set? Comprising 12 miniature bars, there are two each of lime and chilli, butterscotch, chilli, very dark, smooth milk and orange and geranium varieties. Top-notch organic chocolate is used and the flavours are well-balanced and creative. If the present is a success, you could get them a bigger version of the same "library" concept next time.

No7 The Perfect Gift, £30

Boots' own No 7 Protect and Perfect cream caused something of a stir in the beauty world back in 2009 when a BBC documentary revealed that it really did reduce wrinkles in a clinical trial. Queues formed outside the high-street retailer as shoppers rushed to grab an anti-ageing product that actually lived up to its promises.

Fortunately you no longer have to queue to get hold of the products – which are very reasonably priced by beauty standards – and this gift set contains four varieties of the wonder-lotion (serum, day cream, night cream and eye cream), along with cleanser and a cloth. It all comes in a presentation case and was even on a three-for-two offer at the time of writing.

Chimay beers, £26.45

Beer gift sets seem like a great idea – and a surefire hit for booze-lovers – but when you look at what you get for your money a lot of them are pretty poor value. This six-bottle set of Chimay is better priced than most and, importantly, offers something a bit different in the form of three varieties (two each) of the strong Belgian beer, which is produced in a Trappist monastery.

Chimay Rouge is a 7% ABV "dubbel" brown beer with a sweet, fruity aroma, Chimay Blue is a darker brown "grand reserve" clocking in at a hefty 9% and Chimay White or "Triple" is a hoppier, golden-coloured ale which sits between the others at 8% ABV. There are also two goblet-style glasses included in the box, which are perfect for sipping these heady brews with some moules-frites. And sipping is definitely recommended at those strengths!

Canape plates, £14

What do you buy the foodie who has everything? Perhaps these cute Alpine-themed porcelain canape plates would fit the bill? Each bearing the name of a famous cheese, they are decorated with retro-style artwork in tones of green, blue and red – and would make a handsome display piece (on the rare days that canapes are not enjoyed).

Gran Luchito Discovery Set, £9.99

We all know someone who likes to put chilli in or on everything, and we might just have found the perfect gift for them here. Gran Luchito products are made from authentic Mexican smoked chillies, which are ethically sourced direct from farmers. Flavour is prioritised over heat and the chilli paste will add an extra dimension to meals. The pack comprises a jar of chilli paste, one of chilli mayo and one of chilli ketchup – and it has a five-star review on Amazon, where one happy buyer wrote: "The chilli paste and chilli mayo are exceptional. Nice and hot but taste over heat."
