Woman overcomes crippling stammer to read vows at her wedding


A woman spent years struggling with a crippling stammer. But after meeting now husband Ashley Vaughan, at a house party in 2011, she tied the knot – and brought 100 wedding guests to tears when she spoke flawlessly on her big day.

Five years of speech therapy lessons helped her conquer the stammer. Now the occupational therapist has told of her joy, after giving birth to 7lb 2oz Edith earlier this month at James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, – and her excitement at being able to teach her to speak.
