Conjoined twin girls separated in successful 21-hour surgery



This mother says she will be eternally grateful to the staff of more than 50 medical professionals who helped to separate her conojoined twin girls, Ballenie and Bellanie.

The girls were born conjoined at the sacrum, a bone at the base of the spine.

The procedure was performed at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in New York with help from surgeons at Westchester Medical Center.

It took 21 hours and four teams of rotating medical staff to get through the marathon surgery.
