If you're thinking of getting a puppy or dog, these are the important things to remember:

Always, always avoid puppy farms - rehoming is by far the best option, but if you're buying a dog, make sure you're using a responsible breeder.

Always ask to see health test results and certificates of the parents.

Do your research before you pick a breed. All breeds have different characteristics and needs.

The most important advice of all is this: No matter what breed you plump for, be ready to change your life. In order to thrive, dogs need lots of attention, companionship, and love. And they can be very expensive to keep.
