You've got your dress and shoes sorted, now you just have to think about your hair and makeup. Whether it's the office Christmas party or New Year's Eve, turn heads with our guide to creating dramatic metallic eyes.

How to get the look
First, apply a metallic eyeshadow in a cream formula across the lids. Gorgeously intense, Maybelline EyeStudio Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadow in Add On Bronze acts as a vibrant base for the look.

Apply across the lid, working into the socket to build up coverage. Using an angled eyeliner brush, work a thin line of eyeshadow along the bottom lash line. It can help to wet the brush before dipping it in the colour, as this will ensure the pigment is grabbed and applied easily.

Next, apply a deeper metallic eyeshadow in the crease of each eye and smudge it out to reach the length of the line of the eyebrow. Mac Metallic Pigment Duo in Roasted Chestnut gives a rich colour. Again, run a line of eyeshadow along the lower lash line.

Apply a darker metallic shade, such as Mac Glitter in Reflects Blackened Red, contouring the crease of the eyelids and outer corners of the eye. Run a line of black eye gel, such as Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner, under the lower lashes.

For extra drama, apply a half strip of wispy false lashes to the outer corners of the eyes. With the smoky-eyed look, it's best to keep the rest of your look neutral. A soft blush and pink lip gloss is perfect.
