Don't waste food by throwing it away. Many foods you thought couldn't be frozen are actually perfect freezer fodder and can last for months at a time.

Milk can be frozen for up to two months.

Eggs can be stored in the freezer for up to a year, either raw or cooked -just be sure to remove them from their shells first.

Cheese is best stored in cubes or slices or grate it to prevent it from crumbling when you defrost it.

Butter or margarine

Cooked rice: If possible, leave it slightly undercooked so that it retains its texture once it's defrosted

Chicken can be frozen raw or cooked.
