Now one lucky canine can experience what it's truly like to live in the lap of luxury.
Currently available from luxury consumer website VeryFirstTo.com is a one-off, two-week doggie holiday package that takes the phrase 'pampered pet' to a whole new level.
Arriving by limousine at The Paw Seasons dog hotel in Long Ashton near Bristol, Fido can expect bespoke meals cooked by his own personal chef, a canine-sized designer replica of their owner's house in which to relax, Louis Vuitton collar, Bottega Veneta lead, and a Mulberry mackintosh in case of inclement weather.
The lucky pooch will also be treated to a variety of activities during their break, with surfing lessons, board games and swimming to keep them entertained, while none other than Olympic hurdler Dai Greene will be on hand for walkies.
The happy hound will then walk away with a custom-made dog mascot, personal portrait and a DVD of holiday highlights to look back on.
Of course, that kind of luxury comes at a price, and the dog in question will need one seriously generous owner, because the package costs an eye-watering £47,000. However, VeryFirstTo.com are donating all profits from the world's most expensive doggie holiday to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Cancer Research UK, as well as contributing a further £1,000 to the good causes.
Jenny Hytner-Marriott, founder of The Paw Seasons, told the Daily Mail: "Being the leaders in luxury breaks for dogs, we wanted to be the first to offer the most spectacular luxury holiday a dog could wish for."
