That's according to a new poll, at least, which found that a quarter of parents would rather jet off alone, leaving the little ones at home.
The of more than 1,500 adults, each of whom had children under the age of 14, revealed that family holidays are rarely relaxing - and 24 per cent of those quizzed said they were unable to do enjoy see the sights or do the activities they would really like to on their hols.
Of course, with travel firms hiking the prices as soon as the schools break up, cost was also blamed as a reason.
But despite their apparently disappointing getaways, all of those polled had braved a family holiday within the last two years.
Chris Clarkson, co-founder of Sunshine.co.uk, which conducted the survey, told the Daily Express: "The parents we spoke to were obviously very honest when we asked them whether they tried to keep their kids entertained for their own benefit or for their children's.
