Cash incentives to be offered for households installing 'green heating'
New plans suggested by the Department of Energy and Climate Change could mean homeowners and businesses are offered financial incentives to install "green heating".

British householders who opt for environmentally friendly technology to heat their homes could receive a grant thanks to the £4 billion Government scheme.
The plan would also see homes fitted with meters that measure the amount of heating generated by sustainable fuel sources, thereby encouraging homeowners to reduce their carbon footprint as well as their utility bills.
Earlier this week, a report in Building Today magazine suggested that the Government was considering stamp duty incentives for those who fit their homes with eco-friendly features such as insulation and double glazing.
And as solar panels and other such heating technology becomes more widely available, further meters will likely be introduced.
Greg Barker, minister for energy and climate change, told The Telegraph that grants may be offered to individual homeowners, though these would be calculated on a case-by-case basis.
"Measuring how much heat you have saved is rather harder to measure on a domestic scale. People are becoming much more focused on the need to be more energy independent."
Whether the 'incentives' will be enough to encourage homeowners to splash out remains to be seen.
