Icelandic tuner offers DIY Top Gear challenge

Updated

It's easy to envy the Top Gear team. Unparalleled access to the world's finest cars, huge budgets to play with, colossal paychecks to take home; the list goes on and on. But what makes us really green are the challenges that transport the boys to some far-flung corner of the globe in the name of good TV.

Clarkson and May's successful attempt to drive to the magnetic North Pole was one of the more memorable adventures, primarily because it had all the right ingredients; vast, treacherous landscape, extreme conditions and, of course, a special kind of car.

For anyone who missed the (heavily repeated) broadcast, the massively beefed-up Toyota Hiluxs used by the team quickly became the stars of the show for their utter indestructibility.

Unsurprisingly, the company responsible for modifying the cars has decided to put its hour of publicity to good effect.
Arctic Trucks, a Reykjavik-based engineering company, is offering trips across Iceland to anyone interested in recreating Top Gear's film.
