Photo gallery: The valiant damsels of Detroit

Despite the absence of several manufacturers who had sent their apologies, there was still plenty to admire at the Detroit Auto Show – and not just on four wheels. It remains a mystery to us how those enchanting ladies can spend the whole day perched on perilous high-heeled shoes and flash a smile a minute for the hordes of cameramen without freezing to death in their scanty dresses. After all, their mobility is rather limited, as they are obliged to grace these four-wheeled masterpieces with their presence and thereby enhance their value.
