Little Shelter Dog Who's 'Giving Up Hope' Sits Facing the Wall for Hours on End

A shelter dog has basically given up hope on ever leaving the facility, it's sad but true. Video of the pint-sized pup shows the poor girl staring at the wall...all day long. Apparently that's all she really does these days. It's enough to send out the alarm bells, and now her caretakers at the South Florida rescue where she's staying are hoping to get the good girl adopted ASAP.

Animal rescuer Dali shared the dog, Tinker's, story to show how dogs can deteriorate without a loving home.

It doesn't matter how nice the staff members are or how well taken care of a dog may be, shelters are too unstable for dogs. Even the best dog can take a turn for the worse if they stay at one for too long. In the footage Dali shared, it shows Tinker staring straight at the back of her kennel.

"This happens to dogs after they've been in the shelter for a really long time," she explained. "Tinker is giving up hope that anyone will adopt her. She sits facing the wall for hours," she added.

It really is heartbreaking. In the caption, Dali added that Tinker didn't even get picked up frequently because it scared her. "That’s the only thing that’s stopping her from getting a home because people assume she is aggressive when she is not," Dali explained.

Commenters were ready to find the pup a loving home. "Oh God, please let somebody adopt her," begged one commenter. "Come on good people, save this baby," someone else chimed in. "Boosting for this sweet baby girl to get adopted ASAP," another commenter added. "Tinker, I would adopt you if I could! Don’t give up," pleaded another person.

Tinker Finds a Forever Home

The story was beyond sad, but thankfully there is a happy ending. In an update video Dali shared, it seems like her social media campaign worked. Tinker was adopted — hooray! — and the footage shared online shows the pup going home with her new dad.

Dali credits the power of social media with saving the dog's life. Who knows what would've happened if word hadn't spread?

"They were absolutely perfect for Tinker!!" she explained in the caption, speaking of the dog's new owner. The look on the dog's face at the end of the clip is everything. Her smile is a mile wide for the first time in so long.

"Thank you to everyone who applied, reached out and helped the video go viral," Dali wrote. "She got so lucky."
