UK’s biggest indoor water park in North West 'will feature 25 pools and 35 slides'
The biggest indoor water park in the UK will feature 25 pools and 35 slides when it is built, it has been revealed.
Costing £250m, the Therme water park, spa and wellness centre is slated to open in Manchester in 2023.
It is being constructed next to the Trafford Centre in the city and pledges to be an “urban oasis” across a 28-acre site.
It will be double the size of Therme’s wellness centre in Bucharest, Romania, which opened in 2016 and had more than 1 million visitors in its first year.
The site in Manchester will include more than 1,500 palm trees, 25 indoor and outdoor swimming pools, at least 35 water slides and 30 saunas and steam rooms, the Manchester Evening News reported.
The park will also have a dedicated adults’ area with warm water lagoons, swim-up bars and therapeutic mineral pools.

Fitness classes, yoga and Pilates will also be available to customers.
The mantra of the centre is to promote the “wellbeing of people and the planet”.
The Therme Group started its water park concept in Germany in 1999 and has plans to develop sites in Europe and North America.
The park in Manchester will have a 10,000 square metre rose-shaped botanical garden.
There are also plans for rooftop beehives that would provide honey for recipes at the on-site restaurants as well as in spa treatments.
Therme Group bosses said they hope the centre will bring an “everyday holiday to people across the North West of England”.
Building work is at a preliminary stage next to Barton Square at the Trafford Centre, an area partly covered by the Event City exhibition centre, which closed earlier this year.

Richard Land, chief development officer at Therme Group UK, said previously: “Therme Group is based on a belief that wellbeing should be accessible for all.
"The events of 2020 have shone a light on the necessity of this mission, especially for those in cities.
"Therme Manchester will redefine city wellbeing, enhancing mental and physical health through an experience based in water and nature.
"It will offer a unique holiday at home, that acts as a catalyst for healthy lifestyles.”
Therme expects to welcome more than 1.5 million visitors a year to the site in Manchester, creating 3,000 jobs in the process.
