Your pillow is a crucial element to help you get comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. And, if you're not going to sleep at night with the right level of support, you could wake up with a literal pain in the neck.

In a perfect world, you want to try to keep your cervical spine, i.e. the vertebrae that make up your neck, "neutral" when you sleep, physiatrist Dr. Mara Vucich of The Maryland Spine Center at Mercy Medical Center, tells Yahoo Life. Your pillow can help by supporting the natural curve of your neck, she says.

But the right amount of support for your needs depends on how you sleep. "If you're a side sleeper, you need a thick pillow to make sure you're making up the difference and not bending your neck too much while you sleep," Vucich says. Tend to snooze on your back? Vucich says you "don't need much" in the way of pillow filling —"just a little for that slight curve in the neck." Stomach sleepers also don't need too much support, Vucich says.

And, if you tend to flip back and forth from your side to your back, she suggests getting a pillow that's curved or a little sunken in the center to give you a range of support.

Ready to upgrade your pillow situation? Right now, Sleep Number has marked its mega-popular Classic Comfortfit pillow down by 30 percent. It's an impressive $37 off!

The Comfortfit pillow comes in three different options: a classic shape, curved pillow and ultimate, which has three removable inserts so you can find the perfect height for your needs. There's literally an on-sale pillow in here for every kind of sleeper. All three pillow types come in standard- or king-size.

OK, so let's talk about these pillows... .Each one features a unique blend of memory foam pieces and premium down alternative fibers to gently cradle your head and neck while you sleep. Even cooler? The pillows recover their shape after you sleep, so it feels like you're going to bed on a just-fluffed set each night.

Each pillow is swathed in a breathable Lyocell blend cover that's soft and hypoallergenic, so no need to worry about skin irritation or sneezing while you sleep.

Torn between different pillow shapes? Here's a more in-depth breakdown to help you choose:

  • Classic ($63, was $100 for standard; $77, was $120 for king): This has your standard pillow shape and is designed for stomach and back sleepers.

  • Curved ($77, was $120 for standard; $91, was $140 for king): This pillow has gentle contours for extra comfort and support — it's best for side or back sleepers

  • Ultimate ($91, was $140 for standard; $105, was $160 for king): This pillow can work for just about every type of sleeper. Choose from three removable inserts to customize your support and height. Stomach sleepers should use one to two inserts, while back or side sleepers will be more comfortable with two or three inserts.

These pillows have an army of fans who swear they help minimize neck pain. "Perfection," one happy customer said. "Fits my neck and keeps me from getting a stiff neck!" A fellow fan called their pillow "perfect," adding, "I've had my pillow for only two days and my neck pain is almost completely gone."

Another satisfied sleeper said that their pillow "relieved all of my neck pain," noting, "if you sleep on your side, definitely get the curved pillow. It’s the perfect amount of neck relief."

Just a heads up: This deal is only for a few days. After that, you'll be back to paying full price.
