Simone Biles graces Health magazine, talks representation and mental health: ‘Representation matters’

Simone Biles just cannot be stopped!

On Wednesday, the 24-year-old Olympic athlete shared a picture of her new Health magazine cover where she gracefully leaped into the air while wearing a orange crop tank and black biker shorts from clothing brand Athleta, with a colorful top draping from her arms.

Fans were in awe of the stunning cover, flooding the gymnast's comments with compliments and praises.

"QUEEN," a fan wrote.

One commenter was so moved by Biles's cover that she took the time to let her know how important she is.

"We’re just seeing you on this cover being 100% who you are it’s such a beautiful site," they wrote. "From a girl who is dark skinned, and short, and naturally a little muscularly bulky my whole life....seeing you on the cover of a magazine owning your sh*t yes I wish that I had someone like you to inspire me when I was younger, but I’m so glad that you’re here now for the young ladies of now."

In her cover interview, Biles touched on several topics like the cancellation of last year's Olympics due to the pandemic and the importance of representation.

"Representation matters, and we want to inspire the next generation to pursue their passion," she said. "Kids can come in and we will be training in the back, and they can see we are just like them. It helps them understand they can do it too."

She also talked about the importance of self-care, which includes ice massages, compression boots, Epsom salt baths and regular check-ins with her doctor. She then touched on the importance of mental health.

"For a while, I saw a psychologist once every two weeks. That helped me get in tune with myself so that I felt more comfortable and less anxious," she continued.

On Tuesday Facebook Watch released a teaser for Biles's upcoming docuseries Simone vs Herself, which is set to premiere on June 15.
